Director, Machine Shop

Employee 2000-2008, Director 2008 to present. Craig came to Mearl’s in 2000 to complete his final two years of Red Seal training to become a Journeyman Machinist. He has been a driving force in the evolution of the machine shop.

Greg Anderson - Mearl's Machine Works

Director, Pump/Valve Operations

Employee 1999-2008, Director 2008 to present. Greg brought the Water Industry Division to Mearl’s and has over 30 years of technical experience in the water industry.

Ben Cortese - Mearl's Machine Works

Employee 2012-2020. In early 2020 Ben transitioned into a new role as a Director at MMW. With a background in Water Engineering Technology and a passion for troubleshooting and customer service, Ben manages the daily Water Industry operations at Mearl’s.

Employee Since 2012. Danny runs the front counter operations and all walk in customers & jobs. Danny has worked in industrial parts sales and service for over 15 years.

Filip joined Mearl’s in late 2019 bringing with him over 10 years of experience in industrial sales and service.

Employee since 2001 - Originally front counter sales, Andrew now oversees compressor sales & service department as well as technical sales & machining inquiries.

Paul Ufimzeff - Mearl's Machine Works

Shop Manager

Employee since 1999. Red Seal Machinist, Paul has moved up the ranks as a machinist and now manages all machine shop jobs and staff.

Brody Punch - Mearl's Machine Works

Inside Sales Tech - Pumps & Valves

Employee since 2009 - started as part time shop clean up staff and worked his way up over the years. Recently completed Okanagan College Water Engineering Tech program and now handles inquiries for Pump & Valve sales / service.

As of April 30, 2020 Jim has retired from Mearl’s Machine Works after 35 years of dedicated service as an employee and director of the company.

Our History

The story and growth of Mearl's from that one man shop that started it all in 1976.

1976

Mearls Established by Mearl Falk on Gordon Drive in Kelowna BC. Darryl Harris becomes Partner.

1978

Bearing and Power Transmission Product Sales Added. Rudy Otter becomes partner.

1981

Mearl's Relocates to larger 0.25 acre location at 1146 Richter Street in Kelowna BC.

1984

1st Machine Shop Addition of 2100 Sq. ft and additional 0.25 acre property next door is purchased as yard space.

1989

Mearl Falk Retires. Kevin Fabian and Mike Hall become Partners.

1999

Greg Anderson Starts Pump and Valve Sales and Service Department. Purchased our first VDF 560ti CNC Lathe with 2M between centers.

2000

Added a second VDF 560ti CNC Lathe this one with 1M between centers. Rudy Otter Retires and Jim Spangler becomes Partner.

2001

Purchased our first Mazak VTC 250/D50 Vertical CNC Machining Center.

2004

2nd Major Machine shop addition of 5800 Sq.ft converts Yard Area to shop space Air Compressor Equipment Sales and Service added as Kaeser Authorized Distributor.

2005

Darryl Harris retires and Ken d’Albertanson becomes a Partner focusing on expanding our Drill Equipment Sales and Service.

2006

Added our Mazak QTN 350M CNC Multitasking Turning Center.

2007

Installed our Mazak VTC 510C-II CNC Machining Center.

2008

Kevin Fabian Retires and Craig Simla and Greg Anderson become Partners.

2012

Ken d’Albertanson Retires. Added a second Mazak VTC 250/D50 CNC Machining Center.

2014

1.25 acre Property adjacent to Richter shop purchased at 633 Gaston Avenue.

2016

Gaston Building Renovation Stage 1 Completed office and shop. Pump Department Moved to Gaston.

2018

Installed Mazak QTU350MSY CNC Multitasking Turning Center. Mike Hall Retires.

2019

Gaston Building Renovation Stage 2 Completed office and shop. Installed Correa NORMA-L 45 UAD Travelling Column CNC Milling Machine. 31 Employees working in 23,000 Sq Ft of Shop Facilities on 1.75 Acres.
